The Marlo Chronicles, Part 1: Marlo Meets Papa

I reserved a Zip Car today and drove out to Long Island to meet Marlo, who flew in last night from Virginia to JFK. Today she turned one month old. It was amazing to finally get to see her in person after focusing so much on the one picture I had. She is still so tiny. We played and bonded and eventually she fell asleep on my chest - the sweetest thing ever! Here's a video of our first day together, the first of many videos as you might imagine.

Falcons are 9-2! Take That Pack!

The Falcons are on a roll. This is the best team we've ever had. Really! I mean it this time. Was supposed to meet Kevin last night but I was sick and he was asleep so didn't happen. It was for the best. Hope to be 100% soon.

Successful Thanksgiving

Despite napping during the middle of it, Thanksgiving was very successful. The food was edible, there weren't any family brawls, what more can you ask for? Obviously it wasn't the same, but I think having a cold and being the world's worst sick person kept me from being as sad as I might otherwise. But everyone was in good spirits and wanting to be a family. Heading back to New York today.

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

Despite a tough year full of loss, I am very thankful for the blessed life I have including my family, friends, my new baby girl, living in the greatest city on earth, my job, my health and the new bright light that has made its way to my life recently. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

P.S. I'm definitely getting sick and not sure I will fend it off.

First Day in Tennessee - Definitey Getting Sick

It was a long set of flights, connecting in Charlotte. I was tired and not feeling great. I picked up the rental car in Nashville and drove towards home. I stopped on Exit 97 to grab a bit to eat and when I saw Hardee's I started crying. Mama and I had eaten there a few months ago when she was weak from chemo and things were uncertain. It just reminded me of that time and I couldn't choke back the tears. The house looks great and Teresa has done a good job with it. I immediately took a nap though after arriving.

Goldie and No Sleep

Met Goldberg at Posh then headed to Ninth Avenue Saloon once the crazy karaoke started. Stayed out late and was so tired for my 6:30am car service ride to LGA. Starting to feel sick and don't want to be sick!!

Falcons Win! 8-2!

The possible dream season continues with an expected win over the Rams in St. Louis. If we make it to the Super Bowl, I'm there!

Fun Night Out? Or Stalking?

I forced Greg & Brian to change their plans and meet me at Pieces where Kevin was working. Brian and company had unknowingly stationed themselves in front of the coat check area when I arrived which indirectly makes me look like a stalker. Oh well. It was a fun night as always with Mr. Turner. Met Kevin's friend Aaron and then headed home. Interesting night.

Central Park with Mark

Silly title I know. Spent Saturday afternoon in Central Park taking photos with Mark. The leaves were remarkably still colored for so late in the season.

Our Hit Parade

Met Kevla for an emotional lunch where I revealed a lot of personal stuff about the past eight years. It was cathartic and I know they listened and understood, despite not knowing what to expect. It went as well as it possibly could and I think we are back on track. No visit would be complete without a stop at the Cupcake Truck so we found it (abandoned!) and eventually had our cupcakes! Last night was the second date with Kevin. This person is unschedulable! But so darn cute. Plans changed at the last minute and he asked me to meet him for dinner and Our Hit Parade. It turned out to be a fantastic idea and way more fun than the boring romantic dinner I had planned. We stopped by Pieces and then came back to my place. So nice!

Australians, Joan Collins and more Kevla

Tuesday was quite eventful. Met Christopher for "coffee" before meeting up with Anthony to see the first night of Joan Collins new show. What a treat to see her live and in person. After the show we met Kevla and had drinks at Social. Some guy thought Anthony was Robert Plant (seriously) and was eventually tossed out.

Kevla's In Town

Got a text from Kayla that they were watching the Patriots game at an Irish bar across town so I met them there last night. It was so good to see them again.

Blame Canada!

Got a text from Anthony that he was in town so we met at the Ritz, then hit at least a billion other places before the night was over including The Furball. Yes, something only Damon L. Jacobs would know about and convince me to stop in at. Wow. That's all I can say. It was a fun night and very revealing and validating.

Goldberg Again, Possibly a Trend

Goldberg came on yesterday afternoon and we went to Amy's Bread and chatted then walked all the way to Boxers and met up with some friends of his. After a few drinks I was ready for bed. I was planning on meeting Damon but crashing seemed like a better idea.

Falcons Rule & So Does Giovanni

Went to Giovanni's cabaret show at Stonewall and he put on a great show. Received the cold shoulder from someone who shall remain nameless! Raced home to watch the Falcons thrilling last second victory over the Ravens. Oh, what a night. :)

There's Been a Goldberg Sighting

Met Michael Goldberg last night and it was fun to hang out. Today is Paul Jacobs birthday - happy birthday!!!

Mr. Hansis & Dinner With The Folks

Thanks to the nicest guy I know, Adrian, and his wonderful friend Cwennen, we were able to interview Van Hansis at the Bradbury Building in LA. It was a fun interview and I think it will turn out well.

EDIT: Interview added below.

Sunday night we have a wonderful dinner with Damon's parents. Paul's birthday is this week but they treated us anyway. I really needed the Mom and Dad time and they are a Godsend. Today it's back to New York.

Day of DAYS, Doug+John, Manhattanites Screening

What a full Saturday. The DAYS OF OUR LIVES event was a lot of fun. I always enjoy seeing Damon talk a mile a minute and be brilliant doing it. I think we escaped the entire day without any technical problems. We rock! We left Universal and, after getting lost, stopped by Doug and John's amazing house in Burbank. It's totally them. Then we sped off to SAG for a Manhattanites screening. It was great to see Gregori and Derrell again, as well as Diana and Stephen. We went out to dinner after at Callendar's then headed home.

Reunited and It Feels So Good

What a fun night reuniting with Doug and John after so many years, and meeting Steve and Jim. A soap opera bond can never be broken! :) We had dinner at Tender Greens which you might think wouldn't work for Damon and me but it did! We're up early this morning to spend a Day of DAYS OF OUR LIVES.

Into the Woods! Plus, a Doug & John Reunion

"Into the Woods" was really long but it was fun and great to meet Mr. Geary after the show following our phone interview a few weeks ago. It was so nice to see Damon's parents after arriving in Culver City. They are the best. Tonight we're meeting Doug & John, my old San Francisco ANOTHER WORLD pals. They live in LA now and are producing a fabulous web series, PRETTY.

Leaving For LA

Greg's show was a lot of fun. I think I made a good impression on my date as well. We shall see. :) Off to Los Angeles today with Mr. Jacobs, the best flying partner in the known universe. Tonight we'll see Tony Geary's musical, "Into the Woods," with Rob.

First Dates & Greg Turner

First date with Kevin and Greg Turner's show on the same night. It's like chocolate and peanut butter. At least I hope. Excited.

3rd Annual Give Up Your Shoulds Day

How many people can say their BFF has their own holiday? I can. The amazingly talented Damon L. Jacobs created Give Up Your Shoulds Day two years ago today (the day we met actually, hmmm) and this year it is bigger and better than ever. The day will be capped with a workshop at the Gay & Lesbian Center here in New York. Don't miss it!
