New Year's Eve Eve

Had a fun New Year's Eve Eve evening shopping with Kevin. We hit quite a few stores, a hotel bar and finally ended up at Chat 'N' Chew on East 16th Street. Yum! A blast plus we have new New Year's Eve outfits. :)

The Streak is Over

The Falcons basically gave the Saints the game last night with two very unusual turnovers. But homefield advantage will still be ours! I was bummed but Kevin brought chocolate cake home and we all know that cures everything. :)

The sidewalks are cleaned off here now so I can actually go outside.

It's A Wonderful Life

This was definitely a different year and my mama was deeply missed at Christmas in Tennessee. Obviously there was a huge drop-off in the food quality. :) But her spirit really lived on the people who attended. Everyone was in good spirits, got along, and it was just like she would have wanted it. In the start of a new tradition, I flew back to NYC on Christmas Day to be with Kevin. He greeted me with a wonderfully wrapped present covered in Christmas lights. It was sweet and romantic and amazing. We later took a walk over to see the Rockefeller Tree. He was working at Pieces so that's where I ended up later that night. Damon was able to join us which made it even better.

Today, the day after Christmas, also known as the 1st Day of Christmas, we watched some Engineering Disasters and the entire first season of Archer, which got better and better with each passing episode. We also ordered in Thai for dinner since we're having the first big blizzard of winter today which is still going strong as I type.

Merry Christmas Eve!

I flew down to Tennessee on Thursday afternoon. I brought a few dirty clothes and my laptop and that's it. :) Kevin and I stayed up late watching the Nashville director's commentary. Fun! Donnie picked me up, eventually, and we headed home and had sphaghetti. I went to Wal-mart to pick up a few things later in the evening. It was five minutes of shopping and over an hour of standing in line! Ran into Chris, Blake and Jonathan and they helped me find Teresa's car the parking lot which I seemed to have misplaced.

It's now Christmas Eve morning and family is starting to arrive. We have celebrated Christmas on the 24th for as long as I can remember.

Flying back to NYC tomorrow afternoon. There is snow/ice in the forecast here and hoping that doesn't cause any delay.

No Sleep But Feeling Good

My stove has finally been used! Kevin made chili on Monday afternoon and we had our first helping (first of many to come) then I went to the QI party in Williamsburg solo as Kevin had an errand to run. We met up later and made our way to Sugar Land, which on Monday night means karaoke. On this particular Monday night, it also meant watching for a lunar eclipse. It was an amazingly fun night and the "boyfriend" word was even used. Well, we are living together. :) We came home, ate more chili and watched The Closer. FYI...TV on the sofa while snuggling is made of win! Despite getting only a few hours of sleep and having six meetings today I've had a feeling of euphoria all day long. In a good place and looking forward to it continuing.

I'm leaving Thursday afternoon for Tennessee, but only staying two days this visit. I'm coming back on Christmas Day afternoon.

Still On a Roll

Life has really been awesome since late October. New love, new baby and the Falcons refuse to lose. If I'm dreaming, please do not wake me up. Went to Eileen Fulton's Christmas cabaret on Friday night and saw "Dracula" last night with Anthony. We stopped by Pieces after the show but it was a pretty early night. The roommate situation could not being going better. Yay!

The Marlo Chronicles, Part 4

I visited Marlo again on Saturday and she has a lot of new feathers, including the growth of her little red tail feathers that started to peak out last week. We sang Christmas carols for everyone. :)

The Roommate

Kevin moved in Wednesday afternoon. I was a little nervous at first but we went off to a double header of Our Hit Parade and got into our groove. Thursday we bought out Bed Bath & Beyond which was way more fun than shopping normally is. The living situation has been a smashing success so far.

The Blinds Are Up, The Furniture Is Moved, Almost Ready

Kevin is moving in tomorrow so I spent this morning trying to get the apartment ready. Finally, after eight months, the blinds I bought in April are now hung. The small garbage can has now been installed in the cabinet by the refrigerator. And the TV and sofa have been reversed which actually makes the place look bigger. Had a busy afternoon of work and more coming tomorrow. Need to make a Bed, Bath & Beyond run at some point. Looking forward to tomorrow which will conclude with not one, but two Our Hit Parade shows.

On a Roll

The Falcons won their seventh straight game on Sunday. This has only happened one other time in my entire life. I'm trying not to get too cocky and jinx it. :) Kevin came over last night for a business meeting followed by beer and Cheez-Its. Yes, all of that is correct!

Triumphant Baby

On my first date with Kevin we went to see Mercury in Retrograde, the songs of Greg Turner and Selda Sahin. Lorinda Lisitza was one of the performers. She had a cabaret show last night at Urban Stages and I went with Greg. Both the songwriter and lyricist went to grad school with Greg, along with Caroline Murphy and seemingly everyone else he introduces me to. Somehow it was a "small" class. :) We walked down to Pieces after so I could see Kevin. So cute! Greg and I had a blast and eventually he left, but he loses major points for ordering those Southern Comfort shots! I stayed a bit longer and when I left it was raining and no taxis to be had. Kevin walked me to the subway in the rain to show me where it was. A real gentleman.

The Marlo Chronicles, Part 3

Took the LIRR out to see Marlo on Saturday. It was a much better way of doing things. I felt bad asking Gayle to pick me up but she doesn't seem to mind. They are so nice! Marlo continues to grow so fast. Here's the latest video in The Marlo Chronicles.

Caroline Murphy Live! + Puttin' on the Ritz

Had a fabulous date last night. Shared a Hendrick's, saw Caroline Murphy perform at Paddy Reilly's, grabbed a quick sandwich, then danced the night away at The Ritz. Another Lyle sighting but that was just a tiny toxic blip on the radar of a wonderful time (six weeks!). Thank you, Kevin.

A Monday Recap: It Was Quite Interesting

Great talking to Barbara and being able to communicate how far I've come. If only it wasn't at 8am. :) The demo with India went well, although it was supposed to be 30 minutes and it went 75. The shoot with Damon was fun. We did some serious stuff and some silly as well. Not sure what we'll do with all these photos but hadn't seen Damon in a few weeks so it was good to reconnect. Date night was awesome. Kevin is very special and my feelings grow every time I see him. The group at the QI party was exactly what I expected, and that's a good thing. There was a bit of obnoxiousness that tried to color the evening, but it didn't succeed. :) We ended up at Sugarland and had a ball with all the misfit karaoke singers. This was the best kind of karaoke - bad! Other that it being freezing outside (cold!!), it was another fabulous evening with a very intriguing, charming and brilliant man. Looking forward to what's next.

Busy, Busy

I met up with Goldberg Saturday night and went to Barrage for a while. I stayed low key on Sunday vegging out and watching football. The Falcons had their biggest comeback win of the season against the Bucs. Things are looking good for home field advantage. :) Very busy day today with therapy, a demo for IT and eventually heading to Brooklyn for a shoot and a date. :)

The Marlo Chronicles, Part 2: A Sleepy Saturday

The zip car drive out to Long Island was pretty easy today once I got away from Times Square. Marlo has grown some new feathers including her head filling in. She's so precious. She was hungry on Tuesday and more active. She was quieter today. She pooped on me twice - once in my hand and once on my shirt. :) I sang "Go to Sleepy" to her and she fell asleep the first time around. What a girl! Watch the latest below. She's 35 days old today.

Fun Friday on the Town + Lyle Sighting

Met up with Anthony at Social for drinks on Friday at 6pm. Greg met us there to join the fun. Anthony and I grabbed some food at Galaxy Diner then headed down to the West Village. Then let's see, we went to Monster, Marie's Crisis, Monster again (why?), Stonewall Inn and eventually Pieces. Kevin was working so there was incentive for the final stop. :) Had fun hanging and Aaron showed up later and he's always good for an interesting chat. Had sweet dreams that's for sure.

Woke up and was going to meet Anthony for a mini-breakfast before going to see Marlo, and who do I spot on the corner of 49th and 8th across the street from me? Lyle! Ugh. And with some toxic friends of his (ex-acquaintances of mine). Little do they know what they're dealing with but obviously this is a match made in toxic turmoil heaven. The great thing was that short sighting made me realize something - I have won. My life is great and I'm surrounded by goodness and light, and he's still dealing with the toxic and always will be. He has my children and that stinks but I get some satisfaction from knowing he's always going to be living the same life he's been living for years. I'm only sad for them as they deserve way better. More on the Marlo visit in the next post.

Freakanomics! And Happy Birthday, Donnie!

My brother is 49 today. Wow. He's saying 29 though, of course. We bonded really for the first time ever taking care of my mama and glad we are staying in close touch.

Last night was date night with Kev. Had dinner at Arriba Arriba and then watched the movie Freakonomics. It was a nerd's dream!

Seeing Marlo again tomorrow. More pictures and video coming immediately after.

Our Hit Parade

Fun night at this show a few weeks ago with Kevin. Check out a couple of performances below.

The Marlo Chronicles, Part 1: Marlo Meets Papa

I reserved a Zip Car today and drove out to Long Island to meet Marlo, who flew in last night from Virginia to JFK. Today she turned one month old. It was amazing to finally get to see her in person after focusing so much on the one picture I had. She is still so tiny. We played and bonded and eventually she fell asleep on my chest - the sweetest thing ever! Here's a video of our first day together, the first of many videos as you might imagine.

Falcons are 9-2! Take That Pack!

The Falcons are on a roll. This is the best team we've ever had. Really! I mean it this time. Was supposed to meet Kevin last night but I was sick and he was asleep so didn't happen. It was for the best. Hope to be 100% soon.

Successful Thanksgiving

Despite napping during the middle of it, Thanksgiving was very successful. The food was edible, there weren't any family brawls, what more can you ask for? Obviously it wasn't the same, but I think having a cold and being the world's worst sick person kept me from being as sad as I might otherwise. But everyone was in good spirits and wanting to be a family. Heading back to New York today.

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

Despite a tough year full of loss, I am very thankful for the blessed life I have including my family, friends, my new baby girl, living in the greatest city on earth, my job, my health and the new bright light that has made its way to my life recently. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

P.S. I'm definitely getting sick and not sure I will fend it off.

First Day in Tennessee - Definitey Getting Sick

It was a long set of flights, connecting in Charlotte. I was tired and not feeling great. I picked up the rental car in Nashville and drove towards home. I stopped on Exit 97 to grab a bit to eat and when I saw Hardee's I started crying. Mama and I had eaten there a few months ago when she was weak from chemo and things were uncertain. It just reminded me of that time and I couldn't choke back the tears. The house looks great and Teresa has done a good job with it. I immediately took a nap though after arriving.

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Goldie and No Sleep

Met Goldberg at Posh then headed to Ninth Avenue Saloon once the crazy karaoke started. Stayed out late and was so tired for my 6:30am car service ride to LGA. Starting to feel sick and don't want to be sick!!

Falcons Win! 8-2!

The possible dream season continues with an expected win over the Rams in St. Louis. If we make it to the Super Bowl, I'm there!

Fun Night Out? Or Stalking?

I forced Greg & Brian to change their plans and meet me at Pieces where Kevin was working. Brian and company had unknowingly stationed themselves in front of the coat check area when I arrived which indirectly makes me look like a stalker. Oh well. It was a fun night as always with Mr. Turner. Met Kevin's friend Aaron and then headed home. Interesting night.

Central Park with Mark

Silly title I know. Spent Saturday afternoon in Central Park taking photos with Mark. The leaves were remarkably still colored for so late in the season.

Our Hit Parade

Met Kevla for an emotional lunch where I revealed a lot of personal stuff about the past eight years. It was cathartic and I know they listened and understood, despite not knowing what to expect. It went as well as it possibly could and I think we are back on track. No visit would be complete without a stop at the Cupcake Truck so we found it (abandoned!) and eventually had our cupcakes! Last night was the second date with Kevin. This person is unschedulable! But so darn cute. Plans changed at the last minute and he asked me to meet him for dinner and Our Hit Parade. It turned out to be a fantastic idea and way more fun than the boring romantic dinner I had planned. We stopped by Pieces and then came back to my place. So nice!

Australians, Joan Collins and more Kevla

Tuesday was quite eventful. Met Christopher for "coffee" before meeting up with Anthony to see the first night of Joan Collins new show. What a treat to see her live and in person. After the show we met Kevla and had drinks at Social. Some guy thought Anthony was Robert Plant (seriously) and was eventually tossed out.

Kevla's In Town

Got a text from Kayla that they were watching the Patriots game at an Irish bar across town so I met them there last night. It was so good to see them again.

Sunday, November 14, 2010

Blame Canada!

Got a text from Anthony that he was in town so we met at the Ritz, then hit at least a billion other places before the night was over including The Furball. Yes, something only Damon L. Jacobs would know about and convince me to stop in at. Wow. That's all I can say. It was a fun night and very revealing and validating.

Goldberg Again, Possibly a Trend

Goldberg came on yesterday afternoon and we went to Amy's Bread and chatted then walked all the way to Boxers and met up with some friends of his. After a few drinks I was ready for bed. I was planning on meeting Damon but crashing seemed like a better idea.

Friday, November 12, 2010

Falcons Rule & So Does Giovanni

Went to Giovanni's cabaret show at Stonewall and he put on a great show. Received the cold shoulder from someone who shall remain nameless! Raced home to watch the Falcons thrilling last second victory over the Ravens. Oh, what a night. :)

There's Been a Goldberg Sighting

Met Michael Goldberg last night and it was fun to hang out. Today is Paul Jacobs birthday - happy birthday!!!

Mr. Hansis & Dinner With The Folks

Thanks to the nicest guy I know, Adrian, and his wonderful friend Cwennen, we were able to interview Van Hansis at the Bradbury Building in LA. It was a fun interview and I think it will turn out well.

EDIT: Interview added below.

Sunday night we have a wonderful dinner with Damon's parents. Paul's birthday is this week but they treated us anyway. I really needed the Mom and Dad time and they are a Godsend. Today it's back to New York.

Day of DAYS, Doug+John, Manhattanites Screening

What a full Saturday. The DAYS OF OUR LIVES event was a lot of fun. I always enjoy seeing Damon talk a mile a minute and be brilliant doing it. I think we escaped the entire day without any technical problems. We rock! We left Universal and, after getting lost, stopped by Doug and John's amazing house in Burbank. It's totally them. Then we sped off to SAG for a Manhattanites screening. It was great to see Gregori and Derrell again, as well as Diana and Stephen. We went out to dinner after at Callendar's then headed home.

Reunited and It Feels So Good

What a fun night reuniting with Doug and John after so many years, and meeting Steve and Jim. A soap opera bond can never be broken! :) We had dinner at Tender Greens which you might think wouldn't work for Damon and me but it did! We're up early this morning to spend a Day of DAYS OF OUR LIVES.

Friday, November 05, 2010

Into the Woods! Plus, a Doug & John Reunion

"Into the Woods" was really long but it was fun and great to meet Mr. Geary after the show following our phone interview a few weeks ago. It was so nice to see Damon's parents after arriving in Culver City. They are the best. Tonight we're meeting Doug & John, my old San Francisco ANOTHER WORLD pals. They live in LA now and are producing a fabulous web series, PRETTY.

Thursday, November 04, 2010

Leaving For LA

Greg's show was a lot of fun. I think I made a good impression on my date as well. We shall see. :) Off to Los Angeles today with Mr. Jacobs, the best flying partner in the known universe. Tonight we'll see Tony Geary's musical, "Into the Woods," with Rob.

Wednesday, November 03, 2010

First Dates & Greg Turner

First date with Kevin and Greg Turner's show on the same night. It's like chocolate and peanut butter. At least I hope. Excited.

3rd Annual Give Up Your Shoulds Day

How many people can say their BFF has their own holiday? I can. The amazingly talented Damon L. Jacobs created Give Up Your Shoulds Day two years ago today (the day we met actually, hmmm) and this year it is bigger and better than ever. The day will be capped with a workshop at the Gay & Lesbian Center here in New York. Don't miss it!

New Beginnings

I have finally said goodbye to the old and welcome all the wonderful new beginnings that are coming my way. Expecting the arrival of a new baby African Grey parrot any second now and I'm very excited about that. I may have even met a cool person to get to know. We shall see.
